Free Bet Calculator

Free bets and bonus bets aren't worth their face value - this works out what you'd actually collect, and roughly what that's worth compared to real cash.

Most standard "free bets" don't return your stake - only the winnings. Check your operator's terms if unsure.

Winnings if it comes in£35.00
Approx. cash-equivalent value£7.78
As a % of face value78%

The cash-equivalent value is a standard estimate (discounting for the fact a free bet's stake usually isn't returned even if it loses) - always check your bookmaker's exact terms. Not betting advice. 18+ BeGambleAware.org

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the free bet's stake amount and the odds you'd use it on.
  2. Choose whether it's stake not returned (most common - only winnings are paid) or stake returned (works like a normal bet).
  3. See what it actually pays out, and roughly what that's worth compared to the same amount in cash.

Why a free bet isn't worth its face value

With the standard "stake not returned" type, if your bet loses you get nothing back - unlike real cash sitting in your account, which you keep regardless. That risk is why a £10 free bet is worth meaningfully less than £10 cash: this calculator applies the standard cash-equivalent estimate used across the industry, based on your odds, so you can compare offers on a like-for-like basis.
