2022 Grand National Hero Noble Yeats Dies Aged 11
Sad news from the racing world today as 2022 Grand National hero Noble Yeats has passed away at the age of eleven. The Emmet Mullins-trained chaser etched his name into Aintree folklore when powering to a famous fifty-to-one victory under amateur jockey Sam Waley-Cohen, who was taking the final ride of his career. Noble Yeats proved to be far more than just a one-hit wonder. Owned by Robert Waley-Cohen, he consistently competed at the highest level over fences. He went on to win the Grade Two Many Clouds Chase at Aintree later that season before finishing a gallant fourth in the 2023 Cheltenham Gold Cup behind Galopin Des Champs. He made two further appearances in the Grand National, placing fourth in 2023 and carrying top weight in 2024. Renowned for his fierce battle qualities, staying power, and trademark late surge, Noble Yeats accumulated over seven hundred thousand pounds in earnings throughout his career. His passing is a major loss to National Hunt racing.
